Friday Faves

Hi friends! Happy Friday! Yay for the weekend. What are you up to? Anything fun on the menu?

I’m mourning the end of basketball season, but we have a lot of fun things going on this weekend: today, I’m headed up to Phoenix to see some of my best friends, tomorrow my MIL gets into town, and Sunday, we’re filming the final two barre bootcamp videos. (Barre cardio and lower body barre.) I’m so excited to see MIL and take her to some of our favorite Tucson spots.

In standard Friday fare, here are some faves from the week and around the web! It’s always fun to hear what you’re loving, too, so please shout out something you’re enjoying in the comments section below.

Beauty and the Beast. YOU GUYSSSSSSS. I thought it was going to be good, but I had no idea how much I’d love it. Livi and I took my madre and nana to see it on Monday night, and we all enjoyed it so much. I’d read some articles about how people thought Emma Watson shouldn’t sing and she was pitchy, etc. and I think sometimes haters gonna hate, because she was absolutely wonderful. Also, Gaston. He’s one of the funniest characters at Disneyland, and the actor in the current movie was just as hilarious. (Last time we were at the wishing well in Disneyland, Gaston walked over and said, “No need to wish, ladies. I’m here!”)

This quinoa salad looks so good.

I need this chicken tikka in my life.

The Pilot holding sweet Everly. It *almost* gives me baby fever, but #twoandthrough. He looks pretty nice holding babies, though…

A good reminder to up your sunscreen game.

Ranunculus flowers at Trader Joe’s. These are some of my very favorite flowers; I think they look like whimsical roses. In my mind, I call them redonkulous flowers.

The Thai chicken bowl from goodness + lavender kombucha.

goodness is such a cute spot here in Tucson, and they have incredible salads, breakfast and bowls. The Thai chicken bowl had bold, savory chicken, veggies, brown rice, and a spicy peanut sauce. I kind of want to eat it every day.

Random, but I listened to the Missing Richard Simmons podcast, and while it’s fascinating, it also made me very sad. It’s funny because I started wondering about him and where he’s been about a year ago, but never thought it was a *thing*- I just thought he stopped making appearances. The podcast is really well-done, but it weighs heavy on my heart.

The baby balm from Beautycounter. P broke out in eczema a couple of weeks ago, and coconut oil didn’t do anything to help. I ordered this balm, and I’m convinced that it was what made it disappear completely. It’s thick and a little greasy, but she loves it and it’s very moisturizing. She brings me the bottle and says, “AHHHHHH BOM.” (She prefaces everything with “ahhhh,” like, “Ahhhhhh mama. Ahhhhh daddy” and it’s pretty hilarious.)

Some heavy strength workouts. I’ve been back into a more dedicated muscle group split when I’m not taking classes, and managed to get in an upper body, lower body, and total body workout this week.

I got a few questions to write more about the sleep study I had done the other night. In a nutshell, I saw an ENT here when I got water trapped behind my eardrum (when we had to descend so quickly from this flight, it messed with my ears), and he pointed out the fact that I can’t breathe through my right nostril from breaking my nose a couple of times back in the day. I mentioned that I’ve been tired a lot, so they wanted to see if I have sleep apnea.

Sleep studies are the worst ever. I was SO excited because YAY SLEEP, but turns out you don’t sleep much at all. I had about 40 wires stuck all over my body (most attached to my head with this awful sticky wax stuff that is not a picnic to get out of thick, unruly hair), and plastic prongs in my nose to monitor breathing. It’s undoubtedly weird to sleep in a hospital instead of your own bed. I was awake most of the night, and then they really woke me up at 4am to drive home, and I had to wake up an hour later to mom and adult the rest of the day. So, there ya go. Sleep studies: not nearly as fun as you think they’d be.

THESE JEANS. They’re pricey, yes, but so cute and comfy. I’ve worn them so many times lately.

Are your workouts too intense?

Happy Friday, lovely friends!
