BFD girls’ night

Hellooooo! Happy almost-Friday! Hope you’re had an amazing week so far. It has been a bit of a crazy one over here, but I’m definitely looking forward to the weekend and slowing down a bit.

After some days of heat and mugginess, we were pelted down with rain yesterday. The girls still are still fascinated by the rain, even though they’ve seen more of the “wet stuff that falls from the sky” in the past four months than they have in their entire lives.

We’ve had a lot of fun hanging out with Ariana this week, and taking her to some of our favorite Valdosta spots. We’ve also enjoyed time here at home, watching Netflix and baking cookies. It’s been pretty amazing.

Also, I hosted a fun girls’ night the other night. The theme: Breakfast for Dinner.

Cooking Club meets once a month, and I happily offered to host it at our house. When I tried to think of beverage options for the get-together, two critical things came to mind: Bloody Marys and mimosas.

I set out champagne for the mimosas: (OJ was in the fridge)

and put together a Bloody Mary bar so friends could customize their own drinks.

Worcestershire (I can never spell that right… and in my mind I call it “Worst” sauce), Cholula, cold Bloody Mary Mixer (from Trader Joe’s, spiced up with a little lemon juice, lime juice, and garlic powder), Tito’s, lemon and lime slices, skewers (with stuffed green olives, pepper jack, cornichons, pickled veggies, and cheddar), celery, and slices of bacon.

When everyone RSVPs for Cooking Club, they’re usually assigned a meal component, like “side,” “appetizer,” “salad,” “dessert” or “main dish.” Since we were doing Breakfast For Dinner (aka BFD), we kept it super simple: sweet, savory, or main dish. The idea is to make something new or different, or create your own recipe, so it’s actually “cooking club” instead of just “eating club.” I broke this rule and made a tried and true staple: Nana’s egg casserole. I mean, how could I not?! It’s basically the best breakfast creation ever.

I managed to snap a quick (=unattractive) pic of one of my plates:

There were so many great foods to choose from -scrambles, casseroles, breads, muffins, parfaits- and everything was so good.

We had a great time laughing, chatting, and drinking endless cocktails around the dining room table. I kind of got out of the hostess-ing game while we were in San Diego -there was just so much going on with being pregnant, having a reflux baby, and medical ish– and it feels so great to have people over again! I’m lucky to know so many awesome ladies here in V-town. <3

(Oh, Ryan.)

What’s your all-time favorite breakfast recipe?! Please feel free to share some link love! Do you do book club, cooking club, or anything fun that meets on a regular basis?

Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by the blog this morning.

xoxo
